2002-2003 Grant Awards Third Annual Grants Competition Summaries of Approved Projects Seeing is Believing Use digital pictures to illustrate books and stories, to promote writing ideas, to describe class trips, and to document each student's progress through the year.
Students will web-publish monthly photographic updates of their work on plays to be written and performed by two classes at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, as well as videotaping and editing the planning and rehearsal sessions and the final production.
Elementary school students will create and perform a musical theme for each character in "stories that jump off the page." Seventh grade students will dub new sound effects to movie clips from various genres, then compare the revised clip to the original: Searles vs. Hollywood. Eighth grade students will produce video commercials for Berkshire County businesses.
Students and teacher will share the pen during interactive writing, using a digital camera to illustrate books on various subjects and field trips.
Students' singing and instrument playing will be digitally recorded on
CD's for instruction as well as performance. A CD will be produced on each special needs student to record behaviors and progress for orientation of next year's teachers.
Students and teacher will create photo scrapbooks for each child to take home, documenting the year's activities, do multimedia presentations, and share student work and news on a classroom website.
An ESL website will be developed with heavy student involvement to be used as an interactive learning tool for both English and history, for parents and students alike.
Students will produce classroom-ready videos as part of Spanish and Enrichment programs.
Students will digitally record and manipulate specimens they view under
the microscope, display coursework to the public, and see animations of
difficult biological concepts via links provided on the website. |
