Annual Grants Competition Summaries of Approved Projects
Lego Engineering Students will learn to combine the mechanical and computer programming aspects of making objects move. Two MMRHS students will assist in teaching these engineering and design projects. (six MindStorms kits) Kidspiration Use graphic organizers to create webs, maps, and hierarchical chains to enhance lessons in math, science, social studies, reading, and writing by equipping 50 computers in the new elementary school with a software site license. Provide a professional development workshop for entire K-4 teaching staff. (Kidspiration 2 software and workshop) Music Technology Lab and Technology Dept. Enable students to work at piano keyboards connected to computers, to study music theory and play, compose, and arrange independently or under the guidance of the teacher. (5 keyboards and Dell computers, music software, MIDI controller, and MIDI interface) Bringing Writing to Life! Students will learn to adapt their own writing to the screen. (Apple PowerBook G4 laptop, camcorder, tripod, editing software)
