Problems and Solutions
During the three years the foundations in math course has had some
problems with the curriculum that have become obvious. The main problems
are student boredom and an excess of paper packets used in the process
of the course. The packets are difficult to grade in a timely manner
and the students are growing annoyed with the process. Through discussion
with the students we have decided that the way to go with the course is
software and educational web sites. Thanks to the technology grant
we were able to make student and teacher vision a reality. After
two months with the new course format the students and teachers are energized
and learning with the new high tech format.
| Software |
The software component of the course will consist of a Nuefeld
Math self paced program. Students will complete units on the
software which range from adding whole numbers to Algebra. Students
will be graded as they progress. |
| Web site |
The web site will be a student creation which will consist of related
math links and student comments. |
